Until the age of 14 the Dicken or Confetti Bomb could be found with a
pencil
or brush in his hand. To the annoyance of his teachers he found beauty
in
strange things sketching power stations instead of portraits & landfill
sites instead of landscapes.
Around the age of 15 the canvas was replaced by a set of 1200’s, Atari
ST &
drum machine & the rest is history. Too young to experience the boom of
Detroit techno & Chicago house the young Confetti was influenced by the
industrial sounds coming form Birmingham & Cologne playing at free
parties &
raves in his hometown of Cambridge at the weekends. When the criminal
justice bill stopped the parties the music moved back to the nightclubs
which forced him to compromise his style in order to keep the punters
happy.
Uninspired by this he decided to move to London in 2001 to work for
Juno
Records & continue in his quest to explore new musical genres. With
these
new surroundings came new inspirations & hence the need to produce &
play
live. Since then the Confetti Bomb sound has matured & sits somewhere
in
between house & techno avoiding the usual clicks, glitches & beeps
found in
the popular ‘minimal’ style often referencing back to rave & 80’s synth
new
wave alongside fresh drum patterns. Vinyl recordings will soon be
available
on Underline’s new sub label THEM & keep checking the bill at Digital
Beanbag, Guerrilla Lime & Soda, Battery Box parties for live
appearances.
